Spokane Society of Internal Medicine

president's message 2018

Rebecca Mallo, MD, President

Dr. Daniel T. Yang, PresidentWelcome!  I am honored to be serving as the SSIM President for 2018-2019.  I have enjoyed getting to know the Spokane medical community since moving here for residency in 2007.  As times have changed, so has the practice of medicine, and I am proud to call myself the first Hospitalist in this role.  As patients are living longer with more chronic illnesses, I believe it is now even more important to connect all areas of medicine as we care for patients across the continuum. As a hospitalist, I do my best to care for the Primary Care Provider’s patients as they would, and getting to know one another is a step in that direction.  SSIM provides a collegial venue to connect to each other and advance our learning.
For the 3rd year, we are thrilled to be offering the Washington ACP Chapter Annual Meeting via Webcast in Spokane.  This is one of the premier CME events each year, and our webcast has received very positive reviews with great interaction with the speakers in Seattle as well as our own Resident Poster competition.
Our annual spring dinner is a time to connect in a great social setting, reflect on the human side of being a physician and honoring those who exemplify the “gentle and humane nature” advocated for by Sir William Osler.
I invite you to join us in connecting, learning and caring for our patients together.
